Christmas Wreaths at Williamsburg, Virginia!
The history of the Williamsburg wreaths is told on The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation Website. This site describes
“Never mind that no one in the eighteenth century would have been caught dead with real fruit tacked to his front door. Anyone hanging fresh fruit outdoors in the middle of winter to rot or be devoured by squirrels would have been thought, at best, highly eccentric by his neighbors.”
I always thought the early residents used these decorations as part of their Christmas decorations and celebration. Who knew!
The Wreaths are beautiful and have been the theme of many Christmas designers over the year. Below see a few examples of those wreaths. Teresa Johnson Teresa@AtlantaHomeStore.com
